How to Get More Google Reviews (Without Breaking the Rules)

By Ragu Karthigesan · 24 March 2026

Reviews are the modern word of mouth: they decide who gets the click in the map pack and who gets scrolled past. Most businesses don't have a review problem — they have an asking problem. Happy customers simply aren't asked, or the ask arrives with friction attached.

Remove every step

The difference between 'find us on Google and leave a review' and a one-tap link is enormous. A direct review link (we generate these from your Google Place ID), a QR on the receipt, or an NFC card at the counter takes the process from a minute of searching to five seconds of tapping.

Time the ask

Ask at the peak of satisfaction: as the meal ends, when the job is signed off, at handover. A same-day SMS follow-up — 'Thanks for choosing us today, it'd mean a lot if you left a quick review: [link]' — is the highest-converting ask there is.

Stay compliant

Never buy reviews, never post fake ones, and don't review-gate (screening for happy customers before showing the link) — all breach Google's policies and can breach Australian Consumer Law. You don't need tricks; you need a consistent ask.

And respond to everything, including the rough ones — future customers read your replies as closely as the reviews. Our tap cards and follow-up systems make the whole loop automatic — message us on WhatsApp and we'll set you up.
