You can choose a moulding to balance both styles. Baseboards can have a combination of curved and straight lines and there can be moderate detail for the crown moulding. The proportions of the space have to be considered when choosing any moulding so that you can create a more cohesive space. If you have high ceilings, taller crown mouldings and baseboards can be used so that you can add drama. In low ceilinged or standard height rooms, narrower mouldings can be used so that the space doesn’t feel cramped. Substantial mouldings can be used in larger rooms so that they can fill the space.
